Nutrition

Children will be served breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Parents should check the daily schedule posted at the center for times. Breakfast and Snack is prepared on the premises. Lunch is prepared by La Crosse Day Care Centers, Inc. Food Service Program located in the Bluffside Center on HWY. 16. All meals served follow the USDA guidelines for serving size, credibility, and quality. Staff attend training's throughout the year to stay in tune with the latest regulations and to get new ideas.

MENU

Menus for lunch are prepared by the Food Service Program and rotate on a specified schedule. All menus are posted at the centers. Nutrition consultation is provided on an on-going basis by a representative from the Department of Public Instruction which administers the USDA Food Program. Attention has been given to provide a variety in the menus which allow the children to experience a variety of textures, scents, and tastes.

MEAL SERVICE

Delivered meals are kept warm in the oven or cool in the refrigerator until serving time. All meals are served family style with individual serving bowls at each table. Second portions may be available, if not sufficient supplements of bread and fruit are available at each center. Staff will sit with the children.

SPECIAL DIETS

Any diet that can be worked around our menu is recommended. Parents must alert the staff to any food allergies. These allergies will be posted for all staff to see.

SAFE FOOD PRACTICES

Safety is practiced in all aspects of meal preparation and service according to USDA guidelines. The Food Service Program is inspected on a regular basis.
